Self-taught painter, Hawa Keita was born in Senegal and grew up in France. It is while being in Canada that she discovers her passion for painting. Her paintings are mainly inspired by the works that surrounded her during her childhood: cartoons and handmade pieces from Africa including statuettes.

Throughout her art, Hawa likes to express topics that matter to her: the condition of women, multiculturalism, and the environment. As a global citizen, her recital is the following: "My art seeks to export and enhance these beauties hidden in this great world"

Besides painting, Hawa studied in Finance at Concordia University. She is executive director at CEED Concordia, a non-profit organization in the sector of international development. She is keenly interested in economic development in emerging countries.
